Job Responsibilities:
- Primary contact for all Legal and Ethics & Compliance issues arising from business activities and projects across businesses in Singapore, Malaysia, and China
- Making sure that adequate contracts are in place with customers, suppliers, and other business partners in accordance with our organization’s Global Policies & Procedures
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to foster alignment and develop mutually beneficial solutions to Legal matters including claims handling and interpretation, negotiation and enforcement of contracts
- Give regular training on relevant Legal and Ethics & Compliance topics and actively update management of relevant developments
- Ensure that Global Legal and E&C related Policies & Procedures are adequately implemented and maintained including training and ad hoc advice
- Setting Ethics & Compliance standards and enabling and growing corporate compliance behaviours and culture, in alignment with Global Policies & Procedures including anti-bribery & corruption, competition law, trade and export compliance, data protection, and conflicts of interest
- Provide legal support for acquisitions (potential), investments and other strategic transactions, including performing due diligence, drafting and negotiating term sheets and definitive transaction documentation, and supporting closing transactions and post-closing integration, all in alignment with Group Legal and in accordance with our organization’s Global Policies & Procedures
- Liaise with company secretaries in the execution and maintenance of all required corporate filings and reports in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- Direct reporting line to the Chief Financial Officer
- Dotted reporting line to the Group General Counsel and the Group Ethics & Compliance Director

Requirements
- Called to the Bar in Singapore/Malaysia, with at least 6 to 8 years of Post-Qualified experience accumulated from one or more reputable law firms and/or industrial multi- national companies
- Minimum education required: Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- Work experience includes a focus on corporate and contract law, and on advising and implementing Ethics & Compliance policies in a corporate environment
- Capable of thinking analytically and strategically, ensures tactical execution is aligned with our plans and able to clearly articulate own perspectives logically
- Fluent in English and proficient in Mandarin language in order to liaise with China based associates and colleagues
- A real team player, though also a self-starter and able to work independently as sole legal counsel and compliance officer in the region
